The Local Living Venture (LLV) and Birdsfoot Farm are partnering for a workshop entitled Making Fresh Mozzarella Cheese on Saturday, November 15, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, near Canton, NY.  There is an attendance limit on this workshop so it is advised to sign up soon.

his useful and delicious offering in the series of Resourceful Living Skills Workshops from the LLV will be a fun hands-on morning with Emlyn Crocker. This is a great opportunity to learn the ins and outs of making home-made mozzarella cheese in your own kitchen - and you will go home with your very own handcrafted ball of yummy cheese!

Making real cheese is not complicated, and experimenting with creating your own cheese is one of the more enjoyable things a kitchen-crafter can do. Making mozzarella cheese from scratch is easy, but is a slow process best learned with an experienced guide because cheese making is as much of an art as it is a skill.

This workshop is presented in partnership between Birdsfoot Farm and the Local Living Venture.

PRESENTER
Emlyn Crocker is a senior conservation biology major at St. Lawrence University. Originally from Plainfield Vermont, she developed a love for cheese-making after studying on St. Lawrence University’s Adirondack Semester in 2012, when she interned for several weeks at Birdsfoot Farm. Today, one of her favorite hobbies is cheese-making, and she has experience making yogurt, kefir, butter, mozzarella, chevre, yogurt cheese and Swiss cheese.

DONATION
For this unique learning experience, a $24 general public, $45 couple, $10 student donation is requested, to cover overhead expenses and to benefit Local Living Venture non-profit workshop creation.  Presenters for these events are generous volunteers sharing skills with their community.  This workshop is presented in partnership between Birdsfoot Organic Farm and the Local Living Venture.
