AUTUMN FESTIVAL FEATURES LOCAL RURAL LIVING SKILLS

On September 25 and 26, the SLP will sponsor its first annual CELEBRATION! A Local Living Festival
at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Learning Farm south of Canton on Rt. 68. The event will be a grassroots celebration of local rural life skills and self-reliance, small-scale agriculture, and alternative energy. On Saturday and Sunday a full schedule of workshops and demonstrations will include:

Organic Gardening, Cold Frame Gardening, Food Preparation and Preservation, Green Building, Composting, Rainwater Catchment, Cheesemaking, Fermentation, The Family Cow, Raising Chickens for Eggs and Meat, Scrounging, Optimum Orcharding for Northern Climes, Preparing Delicious Vegan Food, Raising Sheep for Fiber and Meat, Forest Management, The Solar Greenhouse, Running Vehicles on Veggie Oil, Living Mortgage Free, Green Building, Intro to Off-Grid Living, Beekeeping for Beginners, Eating on a Shoestring, One Broke and Lazy Person’s Guide to Food Self Sufficiency, and much more.

The Festival will also feature demonstrations of traditional crafts and tools, music, dancing, children’s activities, food, a Farmer’s Market, a Flea, Barter, FreeCycle Market, and a Sustainable Art Show with prizes. Put it on your calendar now!
